What is the use of the masala Dani box?

The traditional Masala Dani box, or Indian spice box, is the centerpiece of traditional Indian cuisine! A spice box is a container containing common ingredients for quick cooking. This spice box is used to store spices commonly used in Indian cooking.

It provides a quick and easy way to use Indian spices in everyday cooking. Instead of opening a few jars of spices, open a big container of everything you need! A masala dani is a stainless steel or copper container used to store spices in India. Masala means spice, and daba means container/box.

The bowl contains seven small sauces. Lacto masala is usually round, although there is a rectangular variation. Each small spice jar usually has a small spoon for ease of use. Some tubes are stainless steel cups with separate lids.

What’s In My Masala Dani?

Here’s a quick overview of what’s in my spice box, heavily inspired by the contents of my mother’s box! These spices and a few others that don’t fit in a box are staples of Indian home cooking.

  • Cumin seeds
  • Red Chili powder
  • Turmeric powder
  • Garam masala
  • Mustard seeds
  • Whole cloves
  • Coriander powder

Cumin, black mustard and asofetida are often used as tadka or tempering oil in Gujarati dishes.

Whole pieces of cinnamon and cloves are used in tadka and rice dishes like pulao or biryani. The main spices are red chilli, turmeric and garam masala. It prepared me for Gujarati / typical Indian food. It is located in Gujarat, India. These spices are also widely used in North Indian cuisines.

Types Of Masala Dabba

Each container usually has a small spoon for ease of use. Stainless steel cup with individual heads (usually seven spices). Stainless Indian spice boxes are the easiest to clean and maintain.

As mentioned above, copper Masala Dani boxes are also popular. I’ve seen wooden boxes, but I don’t recommend them because they don’t hold moisture, and the boxes don’t rust.

I’m looking for functionality and use a stainless steel spice jar. You can throw it in the dishwasher without worrying about cleaning the copper.

How Do I Organize My Indian Masala Dani?

Your masala Dani should be based on the essential ingredients commonly used in Indian cooking. I have a long list of spices used in Indian cuisine.

The truth is, I have all these flavours in my kitchen. Indian food uses whole raw spices. So you get a list of both types. You can even store dry Indian spices in another container! It depends on your preference and how often you use each ingredient.

I prefer to store dry spices in special glass containers so they are not used as ground spices. If you are new to Indian cooking or are unfamiliar with the spices used in Indian cuisine, I suggest you try the Indian spices mentioned above. So adapt to your needs on your culinary journey.

Where To Store The Indian Spice Box?

  • Easily accessible: near the stove
  • In a cool and dry place: in a cupboard

Cleaning And Maintenance

Remember to bring a box of spices. Or after emptying the tank or cleaning a quarter of the entire compartment. It just helps keep it fresh. This set includes seven spice containers, a jar, a spoon and two cups, all made of stainless steel.

The stylish spice container is ideal for storing frequently used spices. This beautiful stainless steel daba masala traditionally stores spices commonly used in Indian cooking. The box is 7.5 inches wide and 3 inches high. Each spice jar is 2.25 inches wide and 1.5 inches high.

Is a wooden spice box good?

The wooden spice rack is perfect for storing spices on the kitchen table. Wooden spice racks have a natural, handmade look that suits any kitchen.

A wooden spice box is a multifunctional tool that can be used for various purposes, such as storing jewellery or small items. A clean, dry cloth can remove dirt from a wooden lawn. You can use a wet and dry cloth for general cleaning.

Conclusion

I always called my mother a magician; All Indian chefs are like that. They can bring to life even the most delicious dishes. Masala Dani box was her secret trick, a small magic box that harnesses incredible power.

The need for this shelter increases when the monsoon is in full swing. As the world celebrates spices, I want to pay tribute to the original healer, the Indian spice box.
